The same is going on here in Sweden. We have one of the most clean waters in the world, and yet people buy the stuff. I can somewhat understand if it’s carbonated or some kind of actual taste, like lemon or whatever. I bought myself a “Soda Stream” a while back, which simply adds carbon dioxid to the water I get from the tap - fresh, clean and tasty carbonated water at a very low cost! I get about 60 liters carbonated water from every cartridge, which costs about $15 = $0.25 per liter.

A few days ago, while I was at the Vans Warped Tour, the fountain water tasted much better in the bottle, than the actual bottled water itself. Bottled water tastes tampered with. Tap is just tap.

A Brita filter does a great job taking out the minerals from old pipes out of water BTW. I lived in a building with rusty pipes but after the Brita it was fine.
