how much water should i drink if im trying to get rid of water retention by tomorrow afternoon?

Got water retention from easter, but tomorrow at 4:30 i have a psychiatrist appointment and want to be my normal weight if possible, not bloated with like 6 pounds of water retention.

Last night i drank 4 cups of water. This morning i drank another 4, and plan to drink 12 more over the course of today. Im also exercising 1 hour this morning and 1 hour tomorrow morning. Any other tips?

You really shouldn’t be drinking extra water to get rid of water retention. Instead, you should be taking a diuretic. My husband has had them prescribed for him before for water retention but the doc told us, and from experience you should be drinking coffee. It works great. Coffee will dry up retained water and it is the diuretic that will make you potty out the excess water so it does a double job. With as much water as you drank you should probably drink around 2-3 cups somewhere throughout the day. Remember this is not a good idea in a different situation like on hot days or if your leaning toward dehydration.

  1. That sounds like it may even be more than you need…they say 8 cups per day is good…try adding a cup of coffee into the mix as well as that acts as a diuretic and will help you pee out the excess water….good luck!

    Someone suggested drinking coffee, I recommend it too. I know it helps.
    And the exercise helps too. You should be fine for tomorrow, keep up the good work.

  4. One thing that can help stop water retention is minimizing extra sodium or salt in the diet, which can be difficult. We usually can point to a few foods high in sodium, but just about any packaged food contains some level of sodium. Most natural food sources also have some sodium too, though the amount is negligible. If you’re having problems with water retention, lowering overall sodium intake is one of the best methods for reducing it.     Cabbage. A natural diuretic, cabbage can be added to salads or sandwiches. Enjoy a side of coleslaw for lunch.

    Yogurt. Too many rich treats will cause stomachs to bloat. If you’ve overindulged and are feeling the effects, treat your stomach to a cup of plain, low-fat yogurt that contains active cultures. The active cultures aid in digestion and increase the good bacteria in the gut.

    Just about any food high in vitamin C has natural diuretic properties.
