The song is about youth, love, life, nature and water. Elitsa sings about a girl named Mitra. The girl is singing while swimming in a mountain river. Heavy rain is falling! While the girl is singing, a young cowboy is riding his horse near by. He hears her lovely song and goes by her. And then they fall in love! Lightnings! Crashes of thunders! And at the end they’re havin’ you know…. Tara-du-day duu-dara tara-du-daa!!!

Dear people, Mitra and Mitre are very common Balkan Slavic names derived from the name of the Saint Demeter/Dimitrios, however you wish to spell it. Having a fight over which nationalisty “owns” the name is really pointless. It can’t be used as proof as to what ethnic background this song has. And anyway, why would you want to?
