Why would a flood be more likely to occur in an urban centre (make reference to the water cycle/drainage)?

i think floods can happen anywhere right? but they get reported in urban areas cause thats where the ppl r. but basically there r floods in urban areas cause most urban areas r built around some sort of body of water. think about it: if u live in a city, think about which river is near u. hong kong is on the sea, london is on the rhine i think. minneapolis/st paul is on the mississippi. etc, etc.

  2. The only thing I can think of is that pavement isn’t porous, so water isn’t absorbed into the soil as quickly.
