Where to live inexpensively, near water, and a warm climate?
My wife and I live in Muskegon, Michigan. We live in a great neighborhood about 1/10 of a mile from the beaches of Lake Michigan. The winters are bad, the economy is worse. We have a 1300 sq.ft. ranch worth about $140,000. Property is fairly cheap here. We would like to find a similar situation in the south or south-west. Not interested in areas with high crime or an urban environment. Suburbs close to water. Any ideas?
Look at the panhandle of Florida, or the coastal areas of MS or AL.

Try the Florida Keys. The climate is great except in summer. Hurricanes can be a nuisance. The major industries are shrimping and the Air Force, also welfare. There is a serious shortage of jobs and women. Prices are reasonable and you can swim all winter. Fishing is great and if you fall out of the boat, you can walk home. If you live in a double-wide trailer, you’re considered rich.

Try Myrtle Beach, SC. It was 76 there today. I go there every spring and have wanted to move there for the last 7 yrs. It is on the Atlantic, has a low cost of living and plenty of jobs with the tourist industry. The only downside is the wages tend to be lower. Property is a buyers market there though also. You should check it out.
