explain the design of water distribution systems and urban drainage infrastructure assets?

for civil engineering subject

In 25 words or less?

And you are asking this in the Economics section of Yahoo Answers rather than the Engineering section?

I begin to understand why you have to ask.

1. Courses on the subject are at the graduate level - the design of real systems is too complex to be handled at the undergrad level.

2. There have been a number of books written explicitly for lay people, on these and similar structures (such a sewage systems)

3. Have you tried doing a web search? One for "water distribution systems" gave me such first page results as:

  1. The system must be designed to allow the water to run downhill, it will not run uphill. The asset is not a design variable but it must depend on how well the system answers the above criterion.
