As you have stated, you raise the dishes.. and that is the best you can do for him at that point. But he DOES need to see a vet. This is not normal behaviour. If he is drink too fast, or eating too fast, then you need to give him water in very small quantities, and allow NO excersize after he has eaten. As I am sure you know, a common problem with them is bloat, and eliminating ANY exercise after they have eaten/drank will reduce problems along those lines.
