I have been loosing water pressure in my rural home from time to time….?

The plumber that came out for $150 told me that it was not the bladder and not the pump but the well itself. When I asked cost on a repair he told me it was more than I could afford and left. Basically I’m interested on the cost of some typical well repairs, from just replacing the bladder, to replacing the pump to digging a whole new well so when I finally get someone to come all the way out to my house and get a second opinion I know what to expect.

Maybe your well is running too low, taking the water out the well faster than it can be replaced. A friend had the same problem so what he did was put in a measuring system so he could stop using water when the level went too low. He used a fish bobbin. One bobbin floated on the water in the well and it was attached to a string with another bobbin over the well. He made a gauge to show how much water was in the well and the top bobbin would move up or down according to the level of the water in the well. When the bobbin was too low he would not use water until the level went back up usually within the hour. That way he never lost his water pressure.

  1. Get a second opinion. Diggin a brand new well might cost $10,000+. It usually takes decades for wells to run out, so there is a good chance it is your equipment, though.
