Any healthy American can go to college for free. I'm getting paid $1064/month to get a Bachelor's Degree FREE. All you have to do is serve your country for a few years and collect on that sweet, sweet GI Bill.
References :
Veteran; current college student not paying a DIME

Well sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)? I think that's moving faster though they're both in the same direction.

It's because of a number of factors. In some respects it has to do with the fact that the current world economy is shit and needs to be retooled. The powers that be let short-term goals dictate their actions for years with stop gap solutions and now everyone is suffering.

On the other side, what it's really about (as all things are) is money. I sat through a CSR conference the other day and listened to AXA and Berkeart and Standard Chartered and Pepsi talk about all these great green initiatives they've made and at the end of each one explained how much money it saved them.

I'll agree with the others that the term itself if a fad, but the underlying teachings are about efficiency and are spurred on by tough economic times.

Corporates tell Universities what they want their future employees to know about to get recruited and Universities teach it to their students in the hopes they'll have more students get into the bigger name companies and then they'll get more money from higher tuition fees and the world spins on...
References :
It is a fad and will go away, Once people realize global change is really not man made but a natural cycle. And what better way for colleges to profit from it by adding more courses to satisfy peoples trends.
References :
Tuition costs are getting out of reach.

I met a guy from Bulgaria. Anyone, at anytime can go to college for free, with the exception of books and living expenses.

Education is the backbone and future of any country. I wish we were not so partisan because we have lost sight of that very simple analogy. Education is the future, not fighting wars, and certainly not holding people back for lack of education.

When I went to college, the tuition was almost non existent. Now for many, it is simply out of reach.

It is time to reverse that policy.
