FIRST As reprehensible as having children fighting in war..... there is no practical way to stop it. We can not stop drug trafficking / use.....how are we going to stop other countries from using children as pawns in war.
SECOND The previous poster suggested direct intervention .... I would point outthat historically whenever we intervened in the internal affairs of other countries no matter how good our intentions....it not only cost us the lives of our young soldiers.... not only cost us massive amounts of money.... not only cost us friends and support around the world.... BUT almost never turns out good
What makes you think we can march into another country and tell it's people what they can and can not do..... without paying a horrendous price now or in the future
THIRD Direct intervention does not work.....sanctions do not work.... preaching falls on deaf ears.....about thge only thing we can do is provide humanitarian aid ......and sanctuary
Our humanitarian aid must not have a hidden agenda or caviots

BTW I saw a child in Vietnam that had 21confirmed kills......and he was 12
References :
As far as individual action go's , it is important as a consumer to be aware of what they are supporting when buying stuff.

Such as buying a diamond ring. As child soldiers are forced to fight and kill buy an army that is funded through the diamond trade then it's up to the individual to boycott diamonds and then at least in one way they're not supporting the army that produces child soldiers.

Also supporting organisations like Amnesty International , whom confront the issue of child soldiers, they will be contributing proactively to a solution.
References :
Going in, kicking the government's butt, and erecting a new government whose first order of business (outside of drafting their own Constitution, since they can't have ours) is abolishing the use of children in the military. Especially since many of the children have been taken from their homes or orphanages without even being asked if they wanted to join.
