how is social work relevant to Sustainability and Environment issues?
Social work is concerned with person and environment and the fit between these two elements. Social work is also concerned with social and economic justice. Finally, social work is concerned with populations at risk. These three areas connect and overlap directly with the environmental and sustainability issues. The first is pretty obvious in that a sick and dying environment that can not sustain life will not be very health producing for people. The second two have a lot to do with who suffers first in environmental issues. Consider where pollution, toxic dumping, and other issues impact first. Generally it is those with the least resources and least political power. DA
