  3. The was …
The was environmental activism before it became “in”. To see how prophetic it was google “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” about a soup of floating waste the size of the US (as explained in this simple, “childish” cartoon)

I am with you on this. This skit scared me TO DEATH when I was really, really young (like three or four). I really don’t know why, but I just found it extremely disturbing.

Additionally, we actually get a peek at his eyes! He actually opens his eyes for a brief second whilst dispensing oil into the clean waters.

  6. He got down to …
He got down to business the moment he entered the screen. He felt that he was a hero–come save the day.

He was merely giving back to the environment by isting in returning the physical matter to its source. Remember: All earth’s physical matter came from planet earth!

    When I was very …
When I was very young, that was the only thing that scared me when the chorus said “Yuck” while showing the very messy planet Earth. The reason it scared me was because the chorus said “Yuck” a little too loud and it was hurting my ears when I was very young.

  11. Water pollution has …
Water pollution has always been a problem to some degree, but it reached a peak in the 1960s and 70s. Factories back then would literally dump all their industrial wastes and sewage directly into lakes and streams, thinking nothing of it.

Fortunately we’ve made some progress since then, but there’s still a ways to go.

  12. I have only one …
I have only one word for that–YUCK!

  13. Pollution was …
Pollution was pretty bad in the 1970s, but the picture was meant to showing how bad things would get soon if we didn’t start turning it around.

  14. was this video …
was this video giving the message about how the world could look in the next year, or does that picture show how things were back then?
