what could the u.s do to help ensure environmental sustainability?

i need 2 do a 1500 essay on it is due monday n idk what 2 write helpppppppp

For future reference, ppl on this site don’t like to hear that they are giving away hw information to people. It may be better to just phrase your question and be ambiguous enough that it could be deemed your own curiosity.
If this is for an economics class, you could write about incentives. Economists love incentives (especially as appose to restrictions) and you could maybe create some incentives that would help encourage businesses and people to become even more environmentally friendly.

  2. 1. It could start thinking about environmental sustainability?

A few people have begun, but no major institution or politician has embraced the notion.

The best we hear is "the need to maintain a balance between the economy and the environment" - which doesn’t begin to address true sustainability.

(True sustainability means sustainable indefinitely - no mining because all mines eventually run out, etc.)

    2. It could use its bio-weapons capability to kill off 99% of the world’s population? (In stages, so that we have a little time to adapt, to clean up the debris, etc. Say, 1% plus the birth-rate per year for the foreseeable future? (War also works, but not as well, as it targets the most productive members of society, while disease generally targets the least productive first)

With far fewer people, maintaining environmental sustainability is much easier as it seems clear that the current population significantly exceeds the current carrying capacity of the Earth, and that because of damage to the environment, that carrying capacity is decreasing:
