In my septic tank gravity and microbes (I add some once a month) separate, cleanse, and desove the waste solids. The liquids are distributed into the soil to filter into the environment hopefully IT helps replenish the water table.
My local city’s treatment plant uses a sediment tank, multiple microbe tanks and additionally airolate the liquids [...]

Getting water to our rural property…who has to pay?

We have 11 acres in the country. We have electricty and now we need water. They water company said we have to pay to have the water pipes installed from wherever their pipes stopped. They said it would cost about $30,000. (It’s not that far in the country…We’re talking feet….not miles) [...]

What product/s can I use to help the water in my bathtub drain better?

We live in a rural area and use water from the well. Our waste water goes through a drain field in the front of our property (not a septic system). The draining is slowing down in my bathtub, but not in my son’s. I assume it’s because of my hair, but it’s [...]

How does a water softner work? I thought about buying one, but not sure?

I live in a rural area and the water is not the greatest. Would a water softner help?
They definitely help and make your soap foamier, etc …. but do NOT water your plants with softened water … it will kill them!

Does it really work to have a water well "dowsed"?

I need to drill a water well in a rural area in southern Ohio. I’ve been told to have a reputable person dowse or "witch" the well to decide on the best location. Has anybody ever done this? There’s plenty of anecdotal evidence that it really does work. Thanks!
Yes, dowsing is real. I’ve never tried [...]

Iron Man Windmills are used to provide water for agricultural and village water supply in China. These large and powerful windmills start pumping in very low wind speeds of 3 to 5mph, as are commonly found across China. They are being used to lift water 500M, but have the power to pump to much higher [...]

In a marshy part of my ultra rural land, there is oil on top of the water. how do I find out about it?

I wonder who to contact to test the land?
Find an independent small scale geological company and contact them. If your land is in Oklahoma, I would contact the Oklahoma Corporation Commission for a referral. My friend’s ex-husband is an independent energy person (geologist) who frequently testifies before the corporation commission as an expert witness. Other [...]

Flying over Rural New Jersey

This is a glider flight over the area near the Delaware Water Gap and Blairstown, New Jersey. The Kittatinny Ridge carries the Appalachian Trail through most of New Jersey. At about 6 minutes is a good shot of the Water Gap and I-80 passing through. From there, we circled around and around gradually back to [...]
