What is sustainability, and why is this concept important to Environmental Geology?
This is a question on my study guide that i couldn’t find my study guide i couldn’t find the answer to
like, "How are you susaiable?"….I recycle, I use a reusable water bottle,I have a compost, I drive a prius….all are examples of bein sustainable.
What is meant by critically analyse how switching to biofuels might aid global sustainability?
It is part of a question on an assignment, just wondering if anyone could give me a few points I could include and do some research on
I think you certainly can get your assignment to be done in full by referring to the following articles, particularly to deal with the bio fuels to aid global sustainability.

However, the hydrogen cars even more appealing in the future. It is so simple of H2O.

Are there any sustainability interships in the west this summer?
My boyfriend and I are wanting to live off the grid. We’re wanting to go to an intership for grey water usage, rain water catchment, solar panels, and organic gardening. We’re looking for something in the west. Can anyone help? Thanks.
It sounds like you should look for an organic farm to live on. There are a lot of organic farms that will house you and work you all day long. And then maybe to contribute you can learn about rain water catchment, solar panels, etc from the internet to help them out. I would start calling small organic farms and asking them when their busy seasons are if they are looking for help and explain your situation. Good luck!
For a class project, I would like to know what the idea of sustainability means to different people?
What do you do that is sustainable? When you hear the word sustainable what do you think of?
I strive to live a more sustainable life, so to me it means doing things in a way that if others do the same we can continue to do in infinitely without running out of resources.
what are some ways to develop a plan to improve the sustainability and livability of a city?
Look at the community in which you live and develop a plan to improve the sustainability and livability of the city (if you are in a major city look in your area/neighborhood of the city). Can greenbelts be added: Are there bike trails, bike lanes, or wide sidewalks? Can areas be made into parks? Can trees be planted to sequester carbon and shade streets, sidewalks and buildings? Define what is meant by the terms sustainability and livability and how they relate to cities.
There are organizations that already exists to help small towns do exactly what you are chatting about: www.htccommunity.org/ is one such organization.

Well, you look at the recent plans of Victoria, Australia’s Sustainability Plans. They decided to invent rooftop gardens in the city. It is great because the tall building are filled with plants. However, the city is still filled with non-rooftop garden buildings.
what kind of plan can you develop to improve the sustainability and livability of a city?

YOU INCREASE QUALITY OF TRANSPORTATION, MAKE THE JOB YOU HAVE CLOSER TO WORK, PROVIDE GOOD LIVABLE JOBS FOR EVERY ONE IN THE CITY, HAVE AN IMPROVED EDUCATION SYSTEM, AND RECYLE AND GARBAGE COLLECTION MUST BE IMPROVED, HAVE TOUGHER ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS LIKE NO LITTERING = JAIL TIME
OR HAVE PEOPLE TO CLEAN UP THE CITY FROM LITTER AND POLLUTION
DECREASE FACTORY AND CAR EMISSIONS TO 0 0POLUTION = GOOD
ALL POLLUTION = GET OUT OF THE WORLD
What environmental sustainability issue does Australia have and is doing to solve it?
I am looking for some info about Australia and about what they are doing to solve this problem.
P.S. I have a paper due tomorrow about this and all help is needed! THANKS!!
Actually I think in researching your question, I may have found the first strong disagreement with wikipedia. When Europeans came to Australia, the Aborigines already use something referred to in the article as fire stick farming, and it goes on to say that the Australian Whites today are using it on a much greater basis. What the natives were doing was burning out the undergrowth, the small stuff and which protected the hard tree canopies, The effects of all this burning is that where the population settled was traditionally better environment with greater rainfall, but now have persistent yearly droughts, and the outback where few people live is getting an abundance of rain. I copied and pasted this from wikipedia to show what is being done about it. Climate change has become a major issue in Australia due to drastic climate events since the turn of the century that have focused government and public attention.[1]. Rainfall in Australia has increased over the past century, both nationwide and for all four quadrants of the nation [2]. Water sources in the South Eastern areas of Australia have depleted due to increasing population in urban areas (rising demand) coupled with climate change factors such as persistent prolonged drought (diminishing supply). At the same time, Australia continues to have the highest per capita greenhouse gas emissions[3].
All federal and state governments have explicitly [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] recognized that climate change is being caused by greenhouse gas emissions, in conformity with the scientific opinion on climate change. Sectors of the population[who?] are actively campaigning against new coal mines and coal fired power stations because of their concern about the effects of global warming on Australia while other groups[who?] are actively campaigning for coal fired power stations and an increase in both number and output of coal mines. Other sectors of the population[who?] believe it is still too early to tell whether or not there has actually been human induced climate change and believe the naturally high variability of Australia’s climate produces too much uncertainty to warrant panic. After publication of the Garnaut report and the White Paper on the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme members of this group are increasingly viewed[who?] as "Climate change skeptics"[citation needed].
There is expected to be a net benefit to Australia of stabilizing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at 450ppm CO2 eq [12] although the coal industry argue this proposition[citation needed].

By definition, cities are just groups of people living in large enough quantities to require the importation of resources.
Cities are inherently unsustainable because they require importation of non-renuable resources, thus requiring constant growth to compensate for their un-sustainability.
Read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and or Endgame by Derrick Jensen.
Why is sustainability the fastest growing movement on the college campuses?
Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Thanks Chinabli, sometimes we forget our children are our greatest resource
Tuition costs are getting out of reach.
I met a guy from Bulgaria. Anyone, at anytime can go to college for free, with the exception of books and living expenses.
Education is the backbone and future of any country. I wish we were not so partisan because we have lost sight of that very simple analogy. Education is the future, not fighting wars, and certainly not holding people back for lack of education.
When I went to college, the tuition was almost non existent. Now for many, it is simply out of reach.
It is time to reverse that policy.
